Hello, Dirt Digger! Welcome to Dinosaur Home! Here, you can talk about paleontology or share photos of your finds, as you already know. If you need anything, feel free to send either me or any other member of the administration team a message and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.

I took a look at some of the pics you posted. The rock closely resembles a skull. I need to ask you a couple questions before I decide what you really have. My first question: Does the jaw open at all?

If it is a fossilized or petrified skull it's evidence of a neck would mean that it would have had to be sort of mummified beforehand. Does the neck show evidence of bone structure typical of neckbones? It looks as if something was eating it, possibly worms or ants or something of the sea. I think Rockimortise has set in Random.

it is a bit on the small side for the head itself but it does show on the left side structure of a faily normal neck placment once its sitting in an upright position like anything walking in an upright position would
rockimortise i like that lmao
the mumified idea could definetly of helped preserve it definetly would slowed down decay and helped fossilise it

it seems to have a line where a jaw might have opened but some of the right lower side of neck and jaw i think are definetly missing the right side seems to be there but left seems like it was riped off and busted half way leaving an indent jaw line exposed on the right also very true abought the being eaten on it has what looks like large claw marks and chew marks from some hefty knine teeth leaving deep puncture marks the rear half was like claw marks draged across rippin the rear half of the skull off theres 3 across the top and 2 one on either side either it was eaten by somethin big or hit multiple times but it definetly has definition theres eyes socket nose structure jaw structure head formation but mishapen defiently not our ara of time neck structure and seems to have a skin laywer pertrified to it as its very smooth around the sockets and right side of face has been through some rough spells the outer laywer seperates and breaks off but is definetly attached underneath its more black the corn piece like thing i found would of been going down the throat so seems it woulda died wile eatin corn or shortly after as its loged in the stone but hadent swallowed it yet completly

Can I get a photo of the mandible (jaw)? If this really is a skull, the jaw can tell a lot about it.

Sorry guys but I`m just not seeing a skull. What I see is a cool looking rock that I believe either formed underwater or in a very wet condition with possibly some hematite among the other minerals. The yellowish part I saw looks a lot like some I have found here that I believe were sea bottom because of the coral pieces found near. They all had a dark stain on them also but not as dark as what you have there. The yellowish interior of them appears to be mud or possibly sand for the majority of the matrix.

That's what I was thinking; that it's a pseudofossil, a specimen that looks real but isn't. But I'll wait for the photo of the mandible before I officially come to that conclusion.
