...s far I can tell, you're right about the ammonite, but, the large fossil doesn't seem to be a bone. My best guess is petrified wood!

Thanks for the reply. What I meant in my last statement was that the tooth or bone appears to have been broken before it was fossilized because the spot where it was broken looks like the jagged edge ...
Turtle shell? hmmmmm..... I dont see it. My friend don said its a pecarry bone or some type of pig. It almost looks like a pork bone. But its not its fossilized!

I guess that depends on the mineral exchanged. I'll tell ya that the mastadon bone is heavy! The bone I found (and now have as a puzzle) was about 10 pounds.
