I've listed some books for sale on Yahoo that you might be interested in. I'll be adding to the list over the weekend so check back occasionally.

See: http://auctions.yahoo.com/show/mystatus?select=selling

Thanks,

Of course, if we wanted to SEE that list using the above link, we would have to log in with your ID and password. Want to give that to us? Or maybe provide a different link?

DUH! Sorry about that. Just go to Yahoo Auction (http://www.yahoo.com/) and search under Geology, Paleontology and fossils. My user name is 'Pentaxscrew' if that will help.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Sometimes the cool 'internet' way is the hard way. Just list the books here with suggested prices. If I need one, I'll email you and then send you a check.

But it is better for the seller to get the sometimes stupid auction prices for the items. There are categories of items for which internet auction bidders pay more than the fair market price and more that friggin' MSRP for even common items. Case in point: DVDs. You can buy them from internet businesses such as reel.com and dvdexpress.com for $15-$20 each new, typically. If someone comes to a DVD newsgroup trying to sell used disks for anything close to the new price, approx. 137 people will point out to the seller that their prices are too high and they need to drop them if they intend to sell them. Place those same DVDs up for auction at Ebay, however, and for some reason I am yet to understand, people will pay more than the MSRP for a new disk to get the used ones. So a disk that wouldn't sell for $15 in a newsgroup might sell for $25 on Ebay.

So, depending on the item, putting it up for auction is a much better choice for the seller than offering them for a set price on a newsgroup.
