First, welcome to the site, onthegogo! I am Random Scientist Inc. and I will answer your question.

I can't quite tell what that is by the looks of it, but I can tell you that you can go to a rock shop. There, they'll tell you what it is and how much it's worth. Do you know of any rock shops in your area?

While some rock shops may be able to help, not all who work at them are smart enough to even make change on a purchase. I have run across them before. I have a rock that I have tried to ID for awhile now with no luck. One rock shop employee informed me that it was a cool rock and it kinda looked like **** and other than that no idea. I found some of the rocks to be smarter than she. But she could tell ya all about tatoos and piercing! A university geology dept. would be more of an expert or museum if avilable. With some good photos you may find some assistance online with some of them. It`s worth a try. Good luck.

Actually, JSpencer, I met a good paleontologist in Virginia City, Montana. Sometimes the people in the rock shops know what they're talking about.

Yes they do............sometimes. A rock shop if close by you is a good start. But unless the person there could show me proof of an identification I`d take what they say as a clue and do my own research into it. Most shops are owned by knwledgable people but they are not always there at the shop. If we could get some better photos of this "egg" we may be able to help more here. I do hope that you realize the odds against it being an actual egg. It may need to be seen in person to ID it as photos don`t always do justice to objects. But I`d like to see more than the one blurry picture posted.
