Larry Martin abandoning ?

It sounds like 'Cal' is in a bad mood. Perhaps he heard that Larry Martin may be changing his tune. I haven't read it myself yet, but in a recent volume of Smithsonian Contributions to Paleobiology, Larry Martin apparently stated that there may be some evidence to support the 'Paulian' view of theropod-bird evolution. If Larry Martin is at long-last coming around, maybe Feduccia and 'Cal' will eventually have to do the same. I suspect Larry Martin doesn't necessarily think that birds evolved from any particular group of theropods, but that he is finally realizing that theropods and birds probably are closely related and do form an exclusive clade. It's about time!

Really? I would like to see that myself. Paul's view is patent nonsense because no theropod has any trace of feathers. They could not have been degenerate birds.

Kinman must be fantasizing! As Feduccia says, feathered dinosaurs are a fantasy. A theropod-bird clade is also a fantasy. Kinman likes to fantasize. That is, of course, his prerogative.
