Can't tell you anything about the fossils you refer to in your post but there was a recent discovery on the Nullabor Plains in Australia of numerous (much more recent) mammal fossils which were bone rather than mineral replacement. The finds were located in fairly deep caves where the dry conditions did not permit leeching. The bones were so fragile that they had to be saturated with glue and allowed to set before they could be removed.
