Hi
This is my first topic in this community.
I come from Palermo (Italy) and my name is Francesco

This year were found the first dinosaur bone in Sicily , exactly at Capaci (near Palermo)
It was found inglobate to a marine cretaceous rock (cenomaniano) and our paleontologist said that is a theropod dinosaur beacouse have a big medullary cavity surrounded by tissue.

It's only a fragment, but is the demonstraction that found dinosaurs in Sicily is possible !

What a lucky duck to be in Palermo for such an exciting find. Definitely therapod and truly well preserved. Love to hear udpates as you continue the dig.

You are correct, Fossil Huntress! It IS theropod.

And, if it's truly medullary tissue, then you may have a brooding female theropod, Dicranurus!! Congrats!!! That is the same tissue found in modern brooding birds!! You hit the motherload!! OMG!! They found the same tissue in a well-preserved T. rex specimen and soft tissue when Mary Schweitzer deminiralized the bone. It began to act like regular living bone!! Dicranurus, You are a Lucky Guy!!!
