It is a national monument, and people should do all they can to make sure all the fossils are well preserved and undisturbed. However, if you were to stumble upon a strange or amazing fossil (such as the new species of Allosaurus a hiker stumbled upon there a few years ago), then go talk to an expert. Unfortunately, the visitor center is closed forever because it was deteriorating. However, a new visitor center has been suggested, and soon, they will probably start construction.
